TURKEY TIME

The Spring season is one of our favorite times of the year (after Fall of course). Planting the gardens, working on food plots and of course chasing turkeys. To be honest, we are not world champion turkey hunters, but we love to hear the gobblers and see them strut into our decoys.

We had even more reason to hit the blind (not that we needed one) this year as we wanted to use our new Ground Blind Camera Mount. This makes filming your hunt from a hub-style ground blind really easy. No more bulky tripod taking up all of your valuable floor space. Well, I have to say, I loved it before and I like it even more now. This new member of the Pine Ridge Archery Camera Supports family will fit in very nicely.

This year was relatively un-eventful. We did have some gobbling going on on our first morning, but with a cold front on the second day, the Toms all but shut up. We did get some action as our friend (and caller) Scott Bakken called a hen within 10 yards of our ground blind. We had high hopes that the racket that Scott and this hen were making would lure in a weary Tom, but no such luck.

After our sit in the blind, we caught a gobble in the distance while packing up our gear. We decided to run and gun after it. We had some exciting chatter back and forth, but we could not get them to close the distance. One Tom came close, but when about 25 crows alerted him to an owl in a tree near us he wanted nothing more to do with the situation.
All in all it was fun. There is nothing like getting a chance to hit the woods after a long winter. We wish all of you a great turkey season and we will update you on ours if it produces anything.
Good hunting!
