Bear Kelly

BEAR KELLY

Bear Kelly has been hunting since he was just about able to walk or so he would have you believe. Bear grew up in a true outdoors family. His father taught him everything he knows today. The most important lessons Bear’s father bestowed upon him was his honesty, integrity and work ethic. Bear is a very dedicated and hard working person who treasures his family. He has actively hunted big and small game and has taken hundreds of animals with the bow, long arm, hand gun and muzzleloader. His true passion lies with his archery equipment. He loves to be able to look into his animal’s eyes – “to become one with his prey” at that moment of truth when he releases that arrow taking the animal as humanely as possible. Bear is a spiritual individual who demands precision. He demands it of himself and expects it of others. Bear is the proud father of four children Sara, Joe, Zachery and Travis. Bear and his wife Ann have taught their children as Bear had been taught by his father to be hard working, respectful and honest in all aspects of life. Bear was there when Sara arrowed her first wild hog. This was Sara’s first kill and as she was taught by her father it was a perfectly executed shot. Bear was there to help guide his son Joe through his award as Eagle Scout in the Boys Scouts. Joe was able to successfully complete this task because of the values he had been taught and the character that he had developed with the assistance of his father. Bear is well known throughout the hunting world and can be found in the off season conducting seminars and instructing classes. He is also a renowned trapper which comes into play during deer season and reducing his scent to be a more effective hunter. As a trapper and an archery hunter, Bear has learned that proper scent elimination is the most important element to be successful. “Setting the trap requires patience, scent control and proper lure presentation. You need to create a picture for your prey. A tasty morsel and no humane presence create a picture to a hungry coyote.” Bear stresses that it is just as important to be scent free on the way to your “trap” as it is while at the actual trap site. It does not matter if your trap is a leg hold or an ambush site 15 feet in a tree stand – proper scent control equals success. Bear, and his best friend and fellow Pro-Staffer Jack Coad, specialize in introducing kids and women to all aspects of the outdoor world. Bear believes this is crucial to our future as hunters and that kids and women are the next frontier. Bear greatest fear is that hunters become discriminatory amongst themselves which could lead to the steady erosion of our hunting rights and privileges. We as hunters regardless of the legal hunting implement of choice must stick together to protect our heritage. “United we stand, divided we fall” is one of Bear’s favorite quotes.

Jack Coad

JACK COAD

Jack Coad has been an avid bow hunter since 1992. Jack has been hunting since he was 14 years old, but never considered himself a true hunter until he picked up his first bow. He enjoys the outdoors and uses any reason he can to get back to nature. Jack’s regular job is in law enforcement mostly working in high crime areas in New York cities. He uses his time in the woods as a way to relieve stress and get back to the simpler things in life. He truly enjoys the vast contrast between the city during the week and the woods on the weekends. Getting back to nature is how he re-charges his batteries. Jack has taken numerous whitetail deer, black bear, predators and wild turkeys with archery equipment and is looking forward to his first elk with the bow. This type of hunting means that Jack has to get close to his prey. He is constantly utilizing the wind to his advantage paying close attention to the terrain, wind currents and thermals. As an archery hunter, Jack has learned that in order to be a successful archer that he must practice total scent elimination. This includes not only being as clean and scent free as he can, but also applies to keeping all of his hunting equipment clean and scent free. Jack is constantly practicing proper scent control before, during and after the hunt. Jack is a Hunter Safety and Bow Certification Instructor for the state of New York. Jack, together with his best friend and hunting partner, Bear Kelly specializes in introducing children and women to the outdoors. Jack and Bear have been active instructors for numerous Jake Day and Women - In -The - Outdoors events in the Buffalo, NY area. Jack has five children. He is looking forward to introducing his grandchildren to the outdoor world as soon as their parents will allow. Jack is extremely thankful for his family and their sometime reluctant patience with his passion. He knows that the most important thing in life is family. He could not have done it without them and credits his family with the success in his life endeavors.

Rich Miller

RICH MILLER

Rich Miller lives in South Carolina with his wife and son where he grew up hunting anything legal and in season. Rich has hunted deer, turkey, waterfowl, and bear across the US and Canada. Though he loves hunting all of these his favorite is bow hunting big whitetails. He was taken into the woods to chase deer around for the first time when he was eight years old and has been addicted to hunting them ever since. With bow or rifle in hand it doesn’t matter to this “do it yourself hunter” as long as he is using scents, calls and, decoys to get deer in range. As a member of the Knight & Hale Elite Pro Staff Rich is a much requested seminar speaker across the country and also a common face at trade shows and store promotions.
