LOADED FOR BEAR / 8/26/2010
By: Jim Broberg:
It has been a long hot summer and the last few mornings have been in the low 50's which have made me feel alive! I leave on my first bear black bear hunt in Wisconsin on September 7th. It took me 7 long years to draw a tag. I have a few trail cameras set up on my AT-5 Trail Camera Supports in the areas I plan to hunt. I have a lot of photos of a sow...

TARGET RICH ENVIRONMENT / 8/2/2010
If it is a trophy buck to you...and you want to put it on the wall...shoot it! That has been our creed for the past 3 years or so and it is paying off. In addition to planting a lot of food plots, this has helped us to manage the smaller bucks allowing them to grow and also provide some great nutrition for a healthy herd and healthy racks.

THE OTHER FOOD PLOT / 7/6/2010
When bowhunters think about food plots, most instantly think about fields full of green clover or a field full of corn or sugar beets. There is another kind of food plot that doesn’t get discussed often that is as just as effective at drawing deer in from miles around as a clover plot. The plot I am thinking about doesn’t require seed, fertilizer or money to build. I am talking about w...

TURKEY TIME / 4/27/2010
The Spring season is one of our favorite times of the year (after Fall of course). Planting the gardens, working on food plots and of course chasing turkeys. To be honest, we are not world champion turkey hunters, but we love to hear the gobblers and see them strut into our decoys.

We had even more reason to hit the blind (not that w...

STICK AND STRING GOBBLERS - BY: TRACY BREEN / 3/25/2010
Turkey hunting can be a low percentage game. Even with the large numbers of turkeys we have in Michigan, many hunters go home empty-handed without a wild butterball. If you turkey hunt with a bow, the chances of success are even lower ... a lot lower.
Over the years, I have tagged a couple birds with a bow but I have also gone home empty-handed several times. If the challenge o...

CAMERA TRICKS / 11/30/2009
There are very few deer hunters who scout without using some type of
trail camera. For many years, the only
way hunters knew if big bucks were in the area was by seeing them or seeing
evidence they left behind like large rubs or scrapes. With the invention of the modern day scouting
camera, everything has changed. Most
hunters have scouting cameras in the woods almost year roun...

KRISTIN'S FIRST BOW BUCK! / 11/9/2009
Kristin Broberg has been hunting since she was 12 and has quite a few deer under her belt with a gun. Since she stepped up to bowhunting, she has found success as well. This week Kristin put a perfect shot on this nice IL buck. The buck was tailing a doe when he followed her under Kristin's stand early on Sunday morning. Unsure if she was going to shoot, Kristin hesitated u...
